DEV3 Roastery – Coffee, Tea & Drinks Shopify Theme (Online Store 2.0)

A warm Shopify theme for coffee roasters and tea shops: roast meters and tasting notes from metafields, origin stories, brew guides with a timer, café cards with open-now badges, wholesale enquiries and subscription-ready purchase options. Steaming 3D cup hero.

DEV3 Roastery is a Shopify theme for coffee roasters, tea merchants and specialty drink brands. It is warm and artisanal (serif headlines, cream and espresso tones, arched images) with slow, soft motion and one 3D object: a steaming cup with latte art in the hero. The product page speaks coffee: roast level, tasting notes, origin, process, altitude and a brew suggestion.

A coffee-first product page

  • Coffee profile block: a roast meter (1 very light to 5 dark), tasting notes as chips, and an origin facts grid (origin, process, altitude, varietal), all from product metafields. Teas leave the roast level empty and the meter disappears.
  • Size and grind as normal variant pills (250 g / 1 kg, Whole bean / Filter / Espresso), with Shopify unit pricing for price per kg.
  • A Brew suggestion chip (for example "Pour-over · 1:16 · 94 °C") and a Brew it section with recipes for that coffee.
  • Cards show the roast meter and the first two tasting notes.

Subscriptions-ready purchase options

  • The Purchase options block uses Shopify selling plans. Install a subscription app (such as the free Shopify Subscriptions app) and add your coffees to a plan: the block then shows One-time purchase or Subscribe & save with a delivery-frequency picker, and the selected plan goes into the cart.
  • Billing, discounts and subscriber management are handled by the subscription app at checkout. The theme has no billing of its own and never fakes a subscription: without selling plans it shows your fallback text instead (in the demo, a link to wholesale standing orders), or nothing.
  • Cart lines show the plan name when one is chosen.

Origins, brew guides, cafés and wholesale

  • Origin stories: farm cards with region, altitude, producer, process and notes on a journey line that draws itself as the shopper scrolls.
  • Brew guide: one tab per method with the ratio, dose, grind, water temperature and up to 5 steps; Start brew timer fills a ring and highlights each step.
  • Cafés: location cards with weekday and weekend hours and an Open now / Closed now badge worked out in the visitor's browser.
  • Wholesale form: a Shopify contact form with business name, type and monthly volume, arriving in your inbox as a wholesale enquiry.
  • Ready-made page templates: About, FAQ, Contact (form and cafés), Wholesale and Cafés.

Online Store 2.0, built from scratch

  • Our own Online Store 2.0 base, built from scratch (not a Dawn fork): JSON templates, sections everywhere, app blocks, and header and footer section groups. Every section can be added, reordered, duplicated or hidden in the theme editor.
  • Cart drawer that updates in place, predictive search, quick view and quick add, Storefront filtering and sorting (with the free Search & Discovery app), swatches, recommendations, recently viewed, mega menu, country and language selectors, customer accounts, gift card and password pages.
  • Native 3D model media: upload a .glb or .usdz to a product and the gallery shows Shopify's 3D viewer with a "View in your space" AR button on supported phones.
  • Motion settings: animation level Off, Subtle or Full, reveal style, duration and stagger, split headings, magnetic buttons and tilt. Visitors who ask for reduced motion always get static content, and the 3D object shows a still frame.
  • The 3D engine (three.js) is not part of the initial page load: it downloads only when the hero object is near the viewport and pauses offscreen. Without WebGL, a poster image shows instead. The initial JavaScript is about 24 KB gzip, with about 18 KB of CSS.
  • Shopify Theme Check: 0 errors. The theme was tested live on a Shopify development store: add to cart, the cart drawer and the handoff to Shopify checkout.

There is no public live demo, because the demo runs on a password-protected development store. Watch the video tour at the top of this page, or step through the screenshots at desktop, tablet and phone sizes.

What's in the download

  • dev3-roastery-1.0.0.zip: the theme. Upload this zip itself under Online Store → Themes → Add theme → Upload zip file.
  • Documentation/: the HTML guide (open index.html).
  • Demo-Content/: products.csv, seed.json, images/ and models/ember-cup.glb, plus a README for the manual import.
  • LICENSE.txt and START-HERE.txt

The demo is the fictional Ember & Leaf roastery: 14 products (6 coffees, 4 teas and 4 pieces of brew gear, 51 variants), 52 rendered images, a 3D cup model, 5 pages and a Brew Journal blog with 3 articles. Import it with Products → Import (CSV) and follow the demo README for images, collections, pages and menus. A scripted seed is available from DEV3 support on request; it runs against your own store with your own Admin API token.
