1.Overview
Every Marketplace purchase grants a licence — a permission to use an item — from the item’s author to you. Two licence types are available: the Regular License and the Extended License. The difference is whether end users of the product you build are charged.
A licence is non-exclusive, worldwide, perpetual and non-transferable, and covers one single end product. You may modify the item to suit your end product.
2.Regular License
The Regular License lets you use the item in one end product that is distributed or accessed free of charge by its end users.
- A company website, a client website, an internal tool or a free mobile app.
- A product made for a single client, where you transfer it to that client for a fee for your services.
- Not permitted: an end product that end users pay to access, download or use, including paid SaaS subscriptions.
3.Extended License
The Extended License lets you use the item in one end product that end users can be charged for. It is priced at 5× the Regular License price unless the author sets a different price.
- A paid SaaS application or subscription product built on the item.
- A paid mobile app or a product sold to multiple customers as a single end product.
- Still one end product: building a second, separate paid product requires a second Extended License.
4.Choosing the right licence
If you are unsure, use these questions:
- Will end users pay to access or use what you build? → Extended License.
- Is it free to end users (even if your client pays you to build it)? → Regular License.
- Are you building many products or a template to resell? → Neither; each end product needs its own licence, and reselling the item as a template is prohibited.
5.Prohibited uses
Under either licence you must not:
- Redistribute, resell, sublicense or share the item or its source files on their own, even if modified.
- Include the item in a product whose primary purpose is to let others build their own products (theme builders, template kits, starter-kit marketplaces).
- Remove copyright notices from the source code.
- Use the item in a way that is unlawful, defamatory or infringes third-party rights.
6.Licence keys and domain activations
Each purchase issues a unique licence key shown in your account. Items that use licence activation may be bound to one production domain plus development, staging and localhost environments. You can release and re-activate a domain from your account at any time.
Licence keys can be verified through our public licence verification API. A refunded or charged-back purchase revokes the key and all activations.
7.Updates and item support
Licences include all future updates to the item for as long as it is listed, delivered through your downloads vault with a changelog. Breaking changes are flagged before you download.
Authors provide item support for 6 months from purchase, covering questions about features, bug fixes and help with included third-party assets. Support does not cover customisation or installation services, which authors may offer separately through the platform.
8.Refunds
Refund requests can be raised within 14 days of purchase where the item is materially not as described, contains a security vulnerability that is not fixed promptly, or is fundamentally broken. A refund ends the licence; you must stop using and delete the item.
9.Warranties and liability
Authors warrant that items work as described and that they have the rights to license them. Beyond that, items are provided "as is". Neither the author nor DEV3 is liable for losses arising from your end product. These terms supplement the DEV3 Terms of Service.
