DEV3 Vernissage is a WordPress theme for galleries, museums, cultural centres, artists and festivals. The home page is a scroll-driven 3D story rendered live in WebGL. A procedural marble sculpture stands on a plinth, and a slow raking light throws its shadow across the gallery walls. Canvases slide along the walls, and a flowing ink stroke carries the visitor from one chapter to the next.

There is no public live demo. Watch the video tour at the top of this page, or step through the screenshots at desktop, tablet and phone sizes.

The 3D scroll story

  • The scene is procedural three.js: the sculpture, marble, gallery and paintings are made in code. The demo artworks come from the theme's own painting shader, so there is nothing to license.
  • The story is built from ordinary Elementor containers. Switch on Use as 3D chapter on a container and it becomes a camera stop.
  • Each chapter can blend scene state:
    • spin turns the sculpture, and slide moves the canvases along the walls
    • dim goes from an open gallery to a single light in the dark
    • wall turns plaster into a feature colour
    • warm adds evening light, and sweep moves the raking light
    • art, artL and hangR switch the hangs on and off
  • Room changes happen under the ink transition, so they never pop.
  • Three presets:
    • Vernissage: marble in the gallery: five sculptures (twisted column, spindle in flight, endless loop, resting ovoid, stacked column) in white marble, nero marble, travertine or patinated bronze.
    • Vernissage: framed print on a wall: six artwork styles, palettes and seeds, six frames, five sizes, a mount and a room with a bench.
    • Vernissage: generative canvas: a full-bleed procedural painting with slow drift.
  • Upload your own .glb scan of a real sculpture (Draco, KTX2 and meshopt supported).

Built for galleries and museums

  • Exhibitions with opens and closes dates, a venue and a curator. Filed as Current, Upcoming or Past, with ExhibitionEvent structured data.
  • Artists with discipline and location, and Person structured data.
  • Artworks with artist, year, medium and dimensions or credit. The Collection grid filters by medium and hangs each work on a plaster wall.
  • Events with start and end times, a venue, a line-up, a price and a linked WooCommerce ticket. Pages built in the block editor get a wall label under the title automatically.
  • Visit page with opening hours, last entry, admission cards, a map that loads only after a click, a group-visit form and an FAQ. A venue hours line appears above the footer on every page.
  • Framed prints. Prints are variable products with Size and Frame attributes. Choosing A3, A2 or A1 and a black, oak, walnut, white, brass or no frame updates the print hanging in a 3D room with a bench and picture light.
  • Tickets and memberships are virtual products. The site also has a mini-cart drawer, quick view and a saved-works wishlist, and both the classic and block Cart and Checkout are styled.

Edit everything

  • Every demo page is built with the free Elementor plugin, including the single exhibition, artist, artwork and event pages. The DEV3 widget category adds 20 widgets, from 3D Scene and 3D Product Viewer to Hover-Reveal List (exhibition programmes), Pricing Table (admission), Post Type Grid (with category filters), Countdown (to an opening), FAQ, Contact / Map (OpenStreetMap, no API key) and Form.

  • Every widget has a block-editor twin. The theme also adds a 3D Chapter block and 28 block patterns, plus block styles: Framed, Hung on the wall, Wall label, Kicker and Underline link.

  • Customizer:

    • gallery white, concrete and vermilion colours, and self-hosted Syne, Inter Tight and Instrument Serif fonts
    • header style, 3D quality, loader, cursor, smooth scroll, grain and chapter rail
    • footer, shop and blog settings, and the venue hours line

Saving also updates Elementor's Global Colors and Fonts.

  • Elementor Pro is supported but not required. The Events Calendar works too: the theme styles its output, and the toolkit's Event type is optional.

  • A child theme is included for your own CSS and PHP.

Performance and accessibility

  • The 3D engine loads only on pages with a scene and stays under the suite's 220 KB gzip budget including three.js. The Vernissage scenes add about 9 KB, and other pages load about 10 KB of JavaScript.
  • Quality is chosen per device, with lighter shadows and geometry on the low tier.
  • Visitors with reduced motion, Save-Data or no WebGL see a still poster image instead of the live scene.
  • The page text stays in the HTML for search engines and screen readers. Copy over the 3D sits on a scrim so it stays legible.
  • Skip link, focus rings, keyboard menus and an ARIA-live cart. Includes an RTL stylesheet, a .pot file and wpml-config.xml.
