DEV3 Serenelle is a free WordPress theme for beauty salons, day spas, nail bars, hair studios, massage and wellness practices. It is soft and calm: Marcellus headlines with Jost text, cream surfaces, rose and sage accents, arch-shaped photo frames and real photography in every section. Motion is light and purposeful (split headings, reveals, mask reveals, counters, a slow marquee and gentle parallax) and it respects reduced motion.

Sign in to download it for free. There is no public live demo: watch the video tour at the top of this page, or step through the screenshots at desktop, tablet and phone sizes.

A hero with a booking bar

  • The toolkit's Photo Hero widget: one photo, a cross-fading slideshow or a muted background video, with an overlay, optional Ken Burns drift, a split headline and two buttons.
  • A booking bar under the hero (treatment, date, Book) that sends guests straight to your Book page.
  • The header turns transparent with light text over the photo and solid once you scroll.

Treatments and the price list

  • Treatments grouped into treatment menus (hair, nails, facials, massage and more), each with price, duration, who it suits, the steps of the ritual, what is included, aftercare and FAQs.
  • A price list with dotted leaders between name and price, built automatically from your treatments, plus spa packages and gift vouchers.
  • A gallery page and a journal for tips and news.

People and booking

  • A stylist team with role, specialties, years of experience, rating, languages and working days.
  • Guest reviews shown with the Testimonials widget.
  • An online booking form: pick a treatment, add-ons, a stylist and a time slot, and see a live total with a 20% deposit. Bookings are stored as private requests and emailed to you. Opening hours, currency and a booking policy line come from the Customizer.

Built for editing

Every demo page is built in Elementor (free) with the DEV3 Theme Toolkit widgets, and 25 block patterns plus custom block styles cover the same sections for the block editor. Colours and fonts come from one token file and sync to the Customizer, theme.json and the Elementor kit. Fonts are self-hosted. The demo photos are free-licence (CC0 and Unsplash licence) photos listed in PHOTO-CREDITS.md; Serenelle Beauty & Spa, Alder Bay, and all names, prices and reviews are fictional.

The problem it solves

A salon or spa sells a feeling before it sells a service. Guests want to see the place, know what a treatment costs, choose who looks after them and book without a phone call. Most beauty themes bury prices, hide the team and ship a contact form where booking should be. Serenelle had to feel calm and warm with photography rather than effects, show a clear price list, make booking a few taps with an honest total and deposit, and stay fully editable in Elementor.

Architecture and approach

Serenelle is a classic PHP theme with theme.json, built on DEV3's shared theme core. Marcellus and Jost are self-hosted, and the always-loaded JavaScript stays small.

The DEV3 Theme Toolkit provides the post types (treatments, team, guest reviews) and the widgets, including the Photo Hero that opens every page. Treatments store price, duration, steps, aftercare and FAQs as fields, so the single template lays them out consistently, and the price list is generated from the same data with dotted leaders.

Booking is a placeholder the theme turns into a form: treatment, add-ons, stylist tiles, time slots and a live total with a 20% deposit. It posts to the toolkit request endpoint as an appointment, so bookings are stored as private requests and emailed. Add-ons and slots are filterable. The demo uses free-licence photos with a credits file.

Quality gates and results

Serenelle ships as a free download with a one-click demo: 9 Elementor pages, a full treatment menu, a stylist team, guest reviews, gift vouchers and shop products, and 25 block patterns.

It passes PHP lint, WordPress coding standards, Theme Check, the WooCommerce checkout flow and an Elementor editor test.

The people behind the treatments

The team page shows each stylist or therapist with role, specialties, years of experience, rating, languages and working days. The same team becomes the stylist tiles in the booking form.

Booking with a live total

Add one placeholder to a page and the theme builds the booking form: choose a treatment, add-ons, a stylist and a time slot, and watch the total update with a 20% deposit. Bookings are stored privately in WordPress under Requests and emailed to you. Opening hours, currency and your booking policy line come from the Customizer.

Set it up in an afternoon

  1. Install the theme and the DEV3 Theme Toolkit, then import the demo from Appearance → DEV3 Demo.
  2. Replace the demo photos with your own, and edit the hero in the Photo Hero widget.
  3. Rewrite the treatments and prices, and add your team.
  4. Set your phone, currency, hours and Book page link under Appearance → Customize → Serenelle: business details.
