DEV3 Lumora is a free WordPress theme for solar and renewable energy installers: residential and commercial solar, battery storage, EV charging and care plans. It is fresh and optimistic: Lexend Deca headlines, a pale sage page, forest-green bands with amber actions and real photography in every section. Motion is light (split headings, reveals, counters, a slow Ken Burns drift on the hero) and respects reduced motion. There is no 3D or WebGL in the theme at all.

A savings calculator that stays honest

  • Visitors enter a monthly bill, free roof space and sun hours, and optionally add a battery. They see a system size, a yearly saving range, how much of their use it covers, yearly output, an installed cost range, a payback range and CO2 avoided.
  • The result is always labelled Estimate only, with a note on what it leaves out. The assumptions and the electricity price are yours to set.
  • A quick-estimate bar under the home hero opens the calculator with the choices filled in, and works without JavaScript.

Free site survey, installation steps and financing

  • A free site-survey request form (what to survey, preferred date and time, contact details) plus a postcode checker for your service areas.
  • A step-by-step installation process page and a short four-step version for the home page.
  • A financing and incentives page with a sample payment calculator that compares the payment with an estimated saving. The incentives text is deliberately generic: it names no real programme, amount or deadline.

Solutions, case studies and an energy tips blog

  • Solutions with typical cost, install time, warranty, what is included and not, equipment options and FAQs.
  • Case studies with system size, panels, battery, yearly output and sample savings and payback figures.
  • An energy tips blog, customer reviews and a shop for survey vouchers, yearly care plans and a downloadable checklist.

Built for editing

Every demo page is built in Elementor (free) with the DEV3 Theme Toolkit widgets, and 26 block patterns cover the same sections for the block editor. Colours and fonts come from one token file. Fonts are self-hosted. The demo photos are free-licence (CC0 / public domain) images listed in PHOTO-CREDITS.md, with no readable panel, inverter or vehicle brand logos; all names, customers and figures are fictional samples.

How it's built

Architecture, stack, key decisions and the quality gates DEV3 Lumora passed before release.

Our own free WordPress theme for solar installers: a photo hero slideshow, an honest savings calculator, a free site-survey form, installation steps, generic financing and incentive pages and project case studies with system size.

The problem it solves

Solar buyers worry about three things: whether it will pay back, whether the installer is straight with them and what actually happens on the day. Most installer themes answer with stock icons and bold savings claims. Lumora had to show real numbers without overpromising, make the first step (a free survey) effortless, talk about incentives without naming programmes that vary by place, stay fully editable in Elementor and ship no 3D or WebGL code.

Architecture and approach

Lumora is a classic PHP theme with theme.json, built on DEV3's shared theme core in flat mode: a WebGL-free boot (smooth scroll, header, motion) and a build gate that fails the theme if any three.js or WebGL code reaches its assets. The always-loaded JavaScript is about 13 KB gzipped, and the calculator loads on demand.

The savings calculator turns a monthly bill, free roof space and sun hours into a system size, a yearly saving range and a payback range. Every result is labelled as an estimate, and the assumptions live in one filter. The DEV3 Theme Toolkit provides the solutions, projects and reviews types and the Photo Hero and request-form widgets: the free site survey is its appointment form with topics from the solutions list.

Incentives are written as generic guidance only, with a clear note that no scheme, amount or deadline is promised, so the page stays truthful in any country.

Quality gates and results

Lumora ships as a free download with a one-click demo: 8 Elementor pages, 6 solutions, 6 project case studies, 8 customer reviews, 5 energy tips articles, 5 shop products and 26 block patterns.

It passes PHP lint, WordPress coding standards (0 errors, 0 warnings), Theme Check with no required issues, the WooCommerce checkout flow and an Elementor editor test, and its no-3D gate.

A free solar installer WordPress theme: savings calculator and site survey with Lumora: DEV3 Lumora

A solar website has one job: get a curious homeowner or business owner to book a free survey. That means honest numbers, a clear picture of the install and no pressure. DEV3 Lumora is a free WordPress theme built for exactly that, with real photography instead of effects and every page editable in Elementor.

Who Lumora is for

  • Residential and commercial solar installers, from a two-person crew to a regional firm.
  • Battery, EV charging and heat-pump specialists who sell on honest sizing.
  • Agencies and freelancers building an energy site the client can keep up to date.

A calculator that does not overpromise

Visitors enter a monthly bill, free roof space and sun hours, and optionally a battery. They see a system size, a yearly saving range, a payback range and CO2 avoided, always labelled Estimate only. A quick-estimate bar under the hero opens the calculator with the choices filled in.

Make the first step easy

The free site survey page pairs a four-step explainer with an appointment form, and a postcode checker lists the areas you serve. A six-step installation process page shows what happens on the day.

Financing and incentives, without false promises

The financing calculator compares a monthly payment on three sample plans with an estimated saving. The incentives text is generic: it explains the kinds of support to look for and promises no programme, amount or deadline.

Set it up in an afternoon

  1. Install the theme and the DEV3 Theme Toolkit, then import the demo from Appearance → DEV3 Demo.
  2. Replace the demo photos with your own and edit the hero slides in the Photo Hero widget.
  3. Set your electricity price, phone number and survey link under Appearance → Customize → Lumora: business details.
  4. Rewrite the solutions, add real case studies and check every incentive statement for your area.
