DEV3 Pitchline is a free WordPress theme for football clubs, academies and local sports clubs. It has matchday energy: Teko condensed capitals, navy, teal and yellow club colours, slanted corners, scoreboard numerals and a floodlit hero. Motion is light (split headings, reveals, counters, a slow Ken Burns drift) and it respects reduced motion. There is no 3D or WebGL in the theme at all.

Sign in to download it for free. There is no public live demo: watch the video tour at the top of this page, or step through the screenshots at desktop, tablet and phone sizes.

Matchday, built in

  • Fixtures and results with Fixtures and Results tabs, squad filters, win/draw/defeat chips and links to match reports. A fixture becomes a result when you fill in its score.
  • A league table you type in once in the Customizer (team, played, won, drawn, lost, goals for and against); the theme works out goal difference and points, sorts it and highlights your club.
  • A next-match card with both badges, kick-off, a live countdown, tickets and the last five results.
  • A match centre page for every fixture with a scoreboard hero and an add-to-calendar download.

Squads, coaches and academy

  • Squads and profiles for the men's and women's first teams and the coaching staff, with squad numbers, appearances and goals. Profiles are for adults; youth sections use pitches, kit and training from a distance.
  • An academy with age groups from Mini Kestrels to Scholars, a weekly timetable, fees and a free trial request form whose topics are your age groups.
  • Facilities with prices and a pitch booking request form.

Tickets, shop and sponsors

WooCommerce styling for season tickets (adult, concession, family), memberships and a kit shop with size options, using a fictional crest only. A sponsors wall with four partner tiers and sponsorship packages.

Built for editing

Every demo page is built in Elementor (free) with the DEV3 Theme Toolkit widgets, and 26 block patterns cover the same sections for the block editor. Colours and fonts come from one token file and sync to the Customizer, theme.json and the Elementor kit. Fonts are self-hosted. The demo photos are free-licence stock photos listed in PHOTO-CREDITS.md; every club, player, sponsor, score and price is fictional.

Our own free WordPress theme for football clubs: fixtures and results, a league table typed in once, squads and profiles, an academy with free-trial booking, season tickets and a kit shop, built on the no-3D theme core.

The problem it solves

A club website has to work on matchday and on the other six days. Fans want the next kick-off, the last result and the table in one tap; parents want to find the right age group and book a trial; the commercial team wants tickets, kit and sponsors to sell themselves. Most sports themes are heavy with effects and treat results as plain posts. Pitchline had to make fixtures, results and the table first-class and easy to update, keep youth sections safe by showing no children's faces, use only a fictional crest, and stay fully editable in Elementor without any 3D or WebGL.

Architecture and approach

Pitchline is a classic PHP theme with theme.json, built on DEV3's shared theme core in flat mode: a build gate fails the theme if any three.js or WebGL code reaches its assets. The always-loaded JavaScript is about 12 KB gzipped.

The toolkit's Event type holds the fixtures (home, away, score, competition, ground); filling the score turns a fixture into a result and works out win, draw or defeat for your club. The league table is typed in the Customizer and sorted by the theme. Four theme widgets (Fixtures & Results, League Table, Next Match, Squad) are also available as blocks.

Academy groups use the Class type with a weekly schedule, and the trial form is the toolkit's appointment request form with the groups as topics. The shop sells kit with size options, season tickets and memberships through WooCommerce. The demo uses free-licence photos, an illustrated fictional crest and made-up sponsors.

Quality gates and results

Pitchline ships as a free download with a one-click demo: 12 Elementor pages, 22 fixtures and results, 13 players and staff, 8 academy groups, 10 news posts, 15 shop products and 26 block patterns.

It passes PHP lint, WordPress coding standards (0 errors, 0 warnings), Theme Check with no required issues, the WooCommerce checkout flow and an Elementor editor test, and its no-3D gate.

DEV3 Pitchline is a free WordPress theme built around exactly that, with photography and a little motion instead of effects, and every page editable in Elementor.

Who Pitchline is for

  • Football clubs from Sunday league to semi-professional, with men's, women's and youth teams.
  • Academies and coaching schools that need age groups, a timetable and trial bookings.
  • Other team sports: the score, table and squad tools are sport-neutral, so rugby, hockey or basketball clubs can use them too.

Fixtures, results and the table

Each fixture stores the kick-off, home and away teams, competition and ground. Fill in the score and it becomes a result, with a win, draw or defeat chip worked out for your club and a link to the match report. The league table is typed once in the Customizer; the theme calculates goal difference and points, sorts the rows and highlights your club.

Every fixture has its own match centre with a scoreboard hero, a details panel, tickets and an add-to-calendar download.

Squads, coaches and the academy

Player and coach profiles show the squad number, position, appearances and goals. Profiles are for adults only: the academy sections use pitches, kit and training from a distance, never children's faces.

The academy lists eight age groups with a weekly timetable and fees, and the trial form takes its topics from your age groups.

Tickets, kit and sponsors

Season tickets (adult, concession, family), memberships and a kit shop with size options run on WooCommerce, with a slide-out cart. The demo uses a fictional crest and illustrated product art. A four-tier sponsors wall and sponsorship packages bring the commercial side together.

Set it up in an afternoon

  1. Install the theme and the DEV3 Theme Toolkit, then import the demo from Appearance → DEV3 Demo.
  2. Replace the demo photos with your own and edit the hero slides in the Photo Hero widget.
  3. Enter your league table and club details under Appearance → Customize → Pitchline: club details.
  4. Add your fixtures, players and academy groups, then set your ticket and kit products.
