DEV3 Cabinly – Free Vacation Rental & Homestay WordPress Theme for Elementor & WooCommerce

A free, cosy WordPress theme for vacation rentals and homestays: property listings with filters for guests, bedrooms, location and price that work without JavaScript, stay pages with a calendar, seasonal rates and reviews, hosts, a local guide and a gift card shop. No 3D.

DEV3 Cabinly is a free WordPress theme for vacation rentals, cabins, cottages, apartments, villas and homestays run by an owner or a small collective. It feels like a guest book rather than a booking engine: Bitter slab-serif headlines, a warm cream paper background, forest ink, copper buttons and lake-blue details, with stitched paper cards and arch-framed portraits. Motion is light (split headings, reveals, counters, stacked cards, a slow Ken Burns drift on the hero) and respects reduced motion. There is no 3D or WebGL in the theme at all.

Filters that work without JavaScript

  • A compact search bar on the home page (place, arrive, leave, guests) and a full filter column on the Stays page: location, dates, guests, bedrooms, price, property type and sort.
  • It is a plain GET form filtered on the server, so results and pagination work with JavaScript off, every result has a shareable URL, and stays that are taken on your dates are left out.

Stay pages that answer the questions

  • A photo mosaic, facts (sleeps, bedrooms, beds, bathrooms, pets), the story and grouped amenities.
  • House rules with check-in, check-out and minimum stay, seasonal rates for low, shoulder and high season, and a three-month availability calendar rendered on the server.
  • A reviews summary with excerpts, the host, a consent-gated map that loads only after the visitor agrees, and a sticky request form with dates, guests and pets.

The rest of the guest journey

  • Host profiles, a local guide of things to do with categories, a rates and seasons page, an FAQ and a list your property enquiry form for new owners.
  • A gift card product with variable amounts and experiences (a sunrise paddle, a bread-baking morning, a picnic hamper) use the themed WooCommerce shop and slide-out mini cart.

Built for editing

Every demo page is built in Elementor (free) with the DEV3 Theme Toolkit widgets, and 25 block patterns cover the same sections for the block editor. Colours and fonts come from one token file and sync to the Customizer, theme.json and the Elementor kit. Fonts are self-hosted. The demo photos are free-licence (CC0) stock photos listed in PHOTO-CREDITS.md; the collective, hosts, guests, places, prices and calendars are fictional.

How it's built

Architecture, stack, key decisions and the quality gates DEV3 Cabinly passed before release.

Our own free WordPress theme for vacation rentals: server-side filters for guests, bedrooms, location, dates and price, stay pages with seasonal rates and a calendar, hosts, a local guide and an owner enquiry, built on the no-3D theme core.

The problem it solves

A small rental business sells somewhere guests have never been, so each page has to answer the same questions: how many does it sleep, what is nearby, what will it cost in my month, is it free on my dates and who looks after it. Most rental themes lean on booking widgets that need scripts and look like every other platform. Cabinly had to put working filters, a clear calendar and honest seasonal prices on every stay, feel home-like and independent, stay editable in Elementor and ship with no 3D or WebGL code.

Architecture and approach

Cabinly is a classic PHP theme with theme.json, built on DEV3's shared theme core in flat mode: a build gate fails the theme if any three.js or WebGL code reaches its assets. The always-loaded JavaScript is about 12 KB gzipped.

The DEV3 Theme Toolkit supplies the post types, which Cabinly re-labels as Stays, Local guide, Hosts and Guest reviews. The search is a plain GET form filtered in pre_get_posts on location, guests, bedrooms and price, and stays that are taken on the chosen nights are excluded, so it works without JavaScript. Amenities, house rules, seasonal rates and the calendar are stored as simple lines and rendered on the server; the calendar is a real table with screen-reader text for every day.

Availability requests and owner enquiries post to the toolkit's request handler, which stores a private request and emails the admin. The map loads only after consent. Stays are described to search engines as VacationRental, without sample ratings.

Quality gates and results

Cabinly ships as a free download with a one-click demo: 10 stays with calendars and seasonal rates, 9 local-guide entries, 4 hosts, 6 guest reviews, 6 journal articles, 6 shop products, 7 Elementor pages and 25 block patterns.

It passes PHP lint, WordPress coding standards (0 errors, 0 warnings), Theme Check with no required issues, the WooCommerce checkout flow and an Elementor editor test, and its no-3D gate.

A small rental business has one job online: help a visitor who is half-decided turn into a request for dates. That means answers (how many it sleeps, what is nearby, what it costs in their month, whether it is free) and a calm next step on every page. DEV3 Cabinly is a free WordPress theme built for exactly that, with real photography instead of effects and every page editable in Elementor.

Who Cabinly is for

  • Owners of a cabin, cottage, apartment or villa who take bookings themselves.
  • Small collectives and homestay hosts with several homes and a shared local guide.
  • Property managers who want a calm, independent look instead of a marketplace one.

Filters that work without JavaScript

The home page has a compact bar and the Stays page a full filter column: location, arrive and leave dates, guests, bedrooms, price, property type and sort. It is a plain form filtered on the server, so results and pagination work with JavaScript off, and stays that are taken on your dates are left out.

Stay pages that answer the questions

Each stay shows facts, a photo mosaic, grouped amenities, house rules with check-in and check-out, seasonal rates for low, shoulder and high season and a three-month availability calendar.

Hosts, a local guide and owners

Host profiles put a face and a reply time on every home. The local guide turns "what is there to do" into walks, paddles, markets and rainy-day ideas, and a list-your-property form brings in the next owner.

A shop for gift cards and experiences

WooCommerce is styled for a small shop: gift cards with variable amounts and experiences such as a sunrise paddle or a picnic hamper, with a slide-out mini cart.
