DEV3 Motorano is a free WordPress theme for car dealerships, classic and used-car specialists and car rental companies. It has a showroom look: condensed Rajdhani headlines, graphite and steel bands, one racing red, cut corners and real photography in every section. Motion is light (split headings, reveals, counters, stacked cards, a slow Ken Burns drift on the hero) and it respects reduced motion. There is no 3D or WebGL in the theme at all.

Inventory that works without JavaScript

  • Filter by make, body type, price, year, mileage and fuel, and sort by newest, price, year or mileage. The filters are a plain form and plain links, so they work with JavaScript off, and the results are pages you can link to.
  • Listing cards show the price, year, mileage, fuel and gearbox, with arriving-soon, reserved and sold badges.
  • A search bar for the home page, a sidebar filter for the inventory and shortcodes to put cards and filters anywhere.

A vehicle page that sells

  • A photo gallery with a lightbox, a key-facts strip, a full spec table, equipment and service history.
  • A finance (EMI) calculator with deposit, rate and term sliders. The monthly payment is also calculated on the server, so it shows without JavaScript.
  • Book a test drive from a sticky card with the sales adviser, and Car schema (JSON-LD) for search engines.

Compare, rent, trade in and service

  • Compare up to three vehicles side by side, including a monthly finance example; it works with plain links too.
  • A rental request with pick-up and return dates, car class, extras and a live price estimate, plus five rental classes with daily rates.
  • A trade-in valuation form, and a service centre with priced services and a booking form.
  • Every request is saved as a private request in WordPress and emailed to you, with a honeypot and a rate limit.

Shop and editing

WooCommerce styling for rental deposits, service vouchers and merchandise, with a slide-out mini cart. Every demo page is built in Elementor (free) with the DEV3 Theme Toolkit widgets, and 25 block patterns cover the same sections for the block editor. Fonts are self-hosted. The demo photos are free-licence (CC0) stock photos listed in PHOTO-CREDITS.md (readable plates and badges are blurred); the demo dealership, makes, models, people and prices are fictional.

The problem it solves

A car buyer decides in minutes and compares many listings. A dealer site has to make the inventory easy to filter, show the price, mileage and history clearly, let people work out a monthly payment and book a test drive without a phone call. A rental company needs dates, a car class and an honest price. Most automotive themes bury the stock behind sliders and need a plugin for each of these jobs. Motorano had to do them all natively, keep the filters working without JavaScript, stay editable in Elementor, use only fictional makes in its demo, and ship no 3D or WebGL code.

Architecture and approach

Motorano is a classic PHP theme with theme.json, built on DEV3's shared theme core in flat mode: a build gate fails the theme if any three.js or WebGL code reaches its assets. The always-loaded JavaScript is about 13 KB gzipped, and the compare tray, gallery lightbox, calculator and rental estimate load in one lazy chunk.

Vehicles reuse the DEV3 Theme Toolkit's listing type with vehicle fields. Year, mileage and price are stored as numbers, so the inventory filters are a plain GET form turned into a meta query, and every result is a linkable page. The finance calculator computes the monthly payment on the server as well as in the browser, so it also works without JavaScript. Compare uses /compare/?cars=1,2,3 links, with a localStorage tray as an enhancement.

Rental and trade-in requests post to a small theme handler with a nonce, honeypot and rate limit, and are stored as private requests and emailed. Test drives and service bookings use the toolkit's request form. The demo uses free-licence CC0 photos with plates and badges blurred, and fictional makes only.

Motorano ships as a free download with a one-click demo: 8 Elementor pages, 13 vehicles, 5 rental classes, 6 services, 6 advisers, 6 reviews, 6 shop products and 25 block patterns.

It passes PHP lint, WordPress coding standards (0 errors, 0 warnings), Theme Check with no required issues, the WooCommerce checkout flow and an Elementor editor test, and its no-3D gate.

A vehicle page that sells

Each vehicle has a photo gallery with a lightbox, a key-facts strip, a spec table, equipment and service history. The finance calculator works out the monthly payment from deposit, rate and term, and the figure is also calculated on the server so it shows without JavaScript. A sticky card shows the sales adviser and a test-drive form; the adviser is emailed the request.
