DEV3 Marketta is a free multipurpose WooCommerce theme for online shops that sell more than one thing: fashion, shoes and bags, home and living, beauty and gadgets. It looks like a store, not a brochure: a white canvas, heavy ink type, signal red for sales and teal for savings, sharp corners and bold price tags. Motion is light (a hero slideshow with a slow drift, reveals, a rotating announcement bar) and respects reduced motion. There is no 3D or WebGL in the theme at all.

A photo hero that sells

The toolkit's Photo Hero widget opens every page: one photo or a cross-fading slideshow, overlay or gradient, a slow Ken Burns drift, a split headline with a highlighted accent, buttons and trust chips.

Built for editing

Every demo page is built in Elementor (free) with the DEV3 Theme Toolkit widgets (product grid and carousel, category showcase, countdown, counters, FAQ), and 24 block patterns cover the same sections for the block editor. The demo has 32 products across 8 categories, with variable products, swatches and sale prices. Fonts are self-hosted. The demo photos are free-licence (CC0) stock photos listed in PHOTO-CREDITS.md; all brands, reviews and ratings are fictional.

Our own free multipurpose WooCommerce theme: a mega menu, mini-cart drawer with a free-shipping bar, quick view, wishlist, swatches, sale countdowns and three product layouts, on the no-3D theme core.

The problem it solves

Most WooCommerce themes look like brochures with a shop bolted on. A real store needs to get a shopper to the right product in two clicks, show the sale clearly, keep the cart one tap away and push the basket past the free-shipping line. Marketta had to do all of that with photography and typography alone, stay editable in Elementor, and ship no 3D or WebGL code.

Architecture and approach

Marketta is a classic PHP theme with theme.json on DEV3's shared theme core in flat mode: a build gate fails the theme if any three.js or WebGL code reaches its assets, and the always-loaded JavaScript is about 12 KB gzipped.

WooCommerce features come from the DEV3 Theme Toolkit (mini-cart drawer, quick view, wishlist, swatches, size guide). The theme adds the store layer: a mega menu generated from product categories, a free-shipping progress bar hooked into the mini-cart fragment, percentage sale badges, brand labels, category landing banners, a sale countdown and three product-page layouts chosen in the Customizer.

Quality gates and results

Marketta ships as a free download with a one-click demo: 32 products in 8 categories, 18 pages and posts, 24 block patterns and 46 free-licence photos.

It passes PHP lint, WordPress coding standards (0 errors, 0 warnings), Theme Check with no required issues, the WooCommerce checkout flow with the drawer, an Elementor editor test, and its no-3D gate.

Keep the basket moving

The mini-cart drawer slides in after add to cart and shows a free-shipping progress bar: "You are $51.00 away from free shipping". The same bar appears on the cart and checkout pages. Percentage sale badges, brand labels and star ratings make each card easy to scan, and quick view and the wishlist heart appear on hover.
