DEV3 Atelora is a free WordPress theme for interior designers, home stylists, decorators and design studios. It is quiet and editorial: Italiana display type, linen paper, terracotta and sage, arch-topped portraits and hairline rules, with real photography in every section. Motion is light and purposeful (split headings, reveals, counters, stacked cards, a slow Ken Burns drift on the hero) and it respects reduced motion. There is no 3D or WebGL in the theme at all.

Projects that show the change

  • A Project post type with location, size, year, style, scope and timeline, the brief, a numbered design story, counted-up results and a client quote.
  • A before and after slider built from two image fields, so every project can show its starting point.
  • A room-by-room gallery with room tabs and a lightbox, and a materials palette of colour swatches.
  • Room types (living, kitchen, bedroom and more) as filters and archives.

Services, process and booking

  • Services and packages with a fee, timeline, what is included, how it works and FAQs, and a sticky fee card beside the details.
  • A process page with a vertical timeline and stacked cards.
  • A consultation form whose topics come from your services; requests are stored privately and emailed to you.

A mood board and an optional shop

  • A mood board page: a flat masonry grid of images with filter chips and a lightbox.
  • WooCommerce styling for design consultations, an e-design package, a downloadable workbook and a few decor pieces, with a slide-out mini cart.

Built for editing

Every demo page is built in Elementor (free) with the DEV3 Theme Toolkit widgets, and 26 block patterns cover the same sections for the block editor. Colours and fonts come from one token file and sync to the Customizer, theme.json and the Elementor kit. Fonts are self-hosted. The demo photos are free-licence (CC0) stock photos listed in PHOTO-CREDITS.md; the demo before images are illustrative edits of the finished photos, and all names, clients and figures are fictional.

How it's built

Architecture, stack, key decisions and the quality gates DEV3 Atelora passed before release.

Our own free WordPress theme for interior design studios: a photo hero slideshow, projects with before and after sliders and room galleries, packages, a process timeline, a mood board and consultation booking, built on the no-3D theme core.

The problem it solves

An interior design studio sells taste and trust, which is hard to show with stock icons. Buyers want to see the change a studio makes, room by room, understand the process and the fees, and book a first conversation without friction. Atelora had to put photography, transformations and a clear next step on every page, look unlike any other DEV3 theme, stay fully editable in Elementor, and ship no 3D or WebGL code at all.

Architecture and approach

Atelora is a classic PHP theme with theme.json, built on DEV3's shared theme core in flat mode: a build gate fails the theme if any three.js or WebGL code reaches its assets. The always-loaded JavaScript is about 12 KB gzipped.

The DEV3 Theme Toolkit provides the post types (projects, services, studio team, client stories) and the widgets. Its Photo Hero opens every page. Projects store their before and after images, brief, design story, room gallery, materials and results as fields, so the single template lays out every project consistently. A small lazy script adds room tabs, mood-board filters and a lightbox.

Booking uses the toolkit's appointment request form with topics taken from the services; submissions are stored as private requests and emailed. The demo uses free-licence CC0 photos with a credits file.

Quality gates and results

Atelora ships as a free download with a one-click demo: 7 Elementor pages, 6 projects, 6 services, 4 team members, 6 journal articles, 7 shop products and 26 block patterns.

It passes PHP lint, WordPress coding standards (0 errors, 0 warnings), Theme Check with no required issues, the WooCommerce checkout flow and an Elementor editor test, and its no-3D gate.

An interior design studio's website has one job: show the change you make, then make it easy to book a first conversation. That means transformations (the room before and after), the process and fees, and a clear next step on every page. DEV3 Atelora is a free WordPress theme built for exactly that, with real photography instead of effects and every page editable in Elementor.

Who Atelora is for

  • Interior designers and decorators, from solo practices to small studios.
  • Home stylists and e-design services that sell packages online.
  • Agencies and freelancers building a design-studio site the client will keep up to date.

Show the change: before and after

Each project stores a before image and an after image, and the single template turns them into a draggable slider under the brief. Add a numbered design story, a colour palette of materials and a few counted-up results, and every project reads the same way.

Room by room

A project can carry a gallery grouped by room. Visitors switch between rooms with tabs and open any image in a lightbox, and room types (living rooms, kitchens, bedrooms) work as filters on the project grid.

Packages and fees in the open

Services are packages with a fee, a timeline, what is included, how it works and FAQs. The page keeps a fee card beside the details, so the decision and the booking button stay together.

A mood board and a clear next step

The mood board page is a flat wall of images with filter chips for textures, plants and objects. The consultation page is an appointment form whose topics come from your services; requests are stored privately in WordPress and emailed to you.
