How to use the delivery note and packing slip generator
Paperwork that matches the parcel
A good delivery document stops arguments about missing items. Fill in the form, check the live total and download a tidy A4 PDF.
Choose the document
- Delivery note: shows ordered, delivered and backorder quantities per line and has a received by signature line. Keep a signed copy as proof of delivery.
- Packing slip: shows the shipped quantity and a tick box for each line so the packer can check items off, with packed by and checked by lines. Put it inside the box.
Fill in the details
- Set the document number, the date and your customer's order or PO reference.
- Add the carrier, tracking number, number of packages and weight.
- Enter your details as sender and the customer as recipient. If goods go to another address, type it in delivery address.
- List each item with its SKU, description, ordered quantity and shipped quantity. The tool calculates backorder for you.
- Edit the notes, for example the time limit for reporting damage.
Tips for warehouse teams
- Use the same order reference on the PO, the packing slip and the invoice.
- Ship partial orders with a delivery note that clearly shows the backorder.
- Photograph the signed note on delivery.
- Use Next number to move from DN-0001 to DN-0002 without retyping.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between a delivery note and a packing slip?
A packing slip travels inside the parcel and lists what was packed, so the receiver can check it. A delivery note is signed by the receiver as proof of delivery and normally shows what was ordered, delivered and left on backorder. Pick either with one switch.
Why are there no prices?
Delivery paperwork usually leaves prices off so couriers and warehouse staff do not see commercial terms. Use the invoice generator for the priced document.
How is backorder calculated?
Backorder is ordered minus shipped for each line, and never below zero. The total of shipped units prints at the bottom.
Can I add a tracking number?
Yes. Carrier, tracking number, number of packages and weight print in the header of the PDF.
Is anything uploaded?
No. The PDF is built in your browser, and the draft is stored only in this browser.
