DEV3 Mendworks is a WordPress theme for plumbing, electrical, heating and air, roofing, handyman and cleaning companies, built to turn visitors into calls and quote requests. The home page is a scroll-driven 3D story rendered live in WebGL: a miniature cutaway house. As visitors scroll, it explodes apart to reveal the water pipes, wiring, ducts and roof one trade at a time. Then it reassembles, fixed, with a guarantee shield rising over the plinth.

There is no public live demo. Watch the video tour at the top of this page, or step through the screenshots at desktop, tablet and phone sizes.

The 3D scroll story

The home page has six chapters, each an ordinary Elementor container with the 3D chapter setting switched on:

  1. Home: the assembled house, with tools orbiting it.
  2. Plumbing: walls and floors explode apart, hot and cold pipes draw on and glow with flowing water, and the taps drip.
  3. Electrics: dusk falls, wiring draws on from the consumer unit with travelling sparks, and room lights switch on one by one.
  4. Heating & air: the roof lifts, and ducts from the heat pump fill with moving airflow particles.
  5. Roofing: a scan line sweeps the tiles, and replacement tiles drop into the gaps.
  6. Fixed: everything reassembles, and a guarantee shield rises.

How the 3D works:

  • Set a chapter's copy side and the camera frames the house on the opposite side, so text never sits on the model.
  • Advanced users can override each chapter's state with JSON. The keys are explode, plumb, elec, hvac, roof, tools, night and fixed.
  • Three presets:
    • exploded house: for the story, or inline on a service page highlighting one system.
    • product studio: 19 objects, from a thermostat, boiler and heat pump to a drill and toolbox.
    • before / after room: a bathroom, kitchen, roof, electrics, heating or living room, with a wear slider.
  • Everything is procedural three.js. There are no stock photos, and no real brands appear.

Built to win leads

  • Phone everywhere. A top bar with a pulsing 24/7 emergency badge, a trust line and the phone number, plus a header phone and a Get a free quote button. Emergency strips and big tap-to-call numbers appear on the home, areas and quote pages.

  • Sticky mobile call bar. A large Call button and a Free quote button on every page on phones. It hides while a form field has focus, so it never covers the keyboard.

  • One place to edit. The phone number, badge, top bar, call bar and quote link all come from Customize → Mendworks: leads & service area. Change the number once and the header, top bar, call bar, 404 page and patterns update.

  • Service-area checker. Visitors type a postcode and get an instant "we cover you" or "not yet" answer. They can then book, with the postcode pre-filled in the quote form, or call. You list your areas one per line, and matching uses the outward code, so KB2 matches "KB2 4HT" but KB1 does not match "KB12".

  • Quote and booking forms. Three Contact Form 7 forms are included:

    • Free quote: service, property, urgency, postcode, description and consent
    • Book a visit: service, date, a two-hour arrival slot and access notes
    • Contact

The quote form pre-fills the postcode and service from the link.

  • Proof. Services with price, duration and booking link; projects with before/after sliders; engineers; and reviews with a "Sample review" badge you switch off once you have real ones. The front page outputs HomeAndConstructionBusiness structured data.

WooCommerce plans, packages and parts

  • Maintenance plans are virtual products with no shipping.
  • Service packages, such as an annual boiler service or a handyman visit with half-day and full-day variations.
  • Parts and tools with colour and finish swatches that recolour the 3D product live.
  • Mini-cart drawer, quick view and saved items. Cart, Checkout and My Account are styled, including the block checkout.

Edit everything

  • Every demo page is an Elementor container layout, including the service and project pages. The DEV3 widget category adds 3D Scene, 3D Product Viewer, Kinetic Heading, Magnetic Button, Counter, Marquee, Timeline, Before/After, Pricing Table, Testimonials, Team Grid, Post Type Grid, Product Grid, FAQ (with FAQ schema), Contact/Map and Form.
  • Every widget has a block-editor twin. The theme also adds 28 block patterns, such as an emergency hero, a call-out rates table, a before/after pair, a postcode checker band and a seasonal maintenance checklist.
  • Customizer:
    • colours synced to the block editor and the Elementor kit, and self-hosted Outfit and Manrope fonts
    • header style and sticky header, 3D quality, loader, smooth scrolling, grain and chapter rail
    • footer and shop settings, and the leads and service-area section
  • A child theme is included for your own CSS and PHP.

Performance and accessibility

  • The 3D engine loads only on pages that contain a scene: about 207 KB gzip including three.js, with the three presets in one lazy chunk.
  • Quality tiers adapt to the device. With reduced motion, Save-Data or no WebGL, a still poster is shown.
  • All copy stays in the HTML for search engines and screen readers.
  • Built to WCAG 2.2 AA: focus rings, skip link, keyboard menus, ARIA-live area-checker results, and yellow buttons with navy text for high contrast.
  • Includes an RTL stylesheet, a .pot file and wpml-config.xml, which makes the lead options translatable.
