How to use the signature maker
Make a signature you can reuse
A clean digital signature saves time on PDFs, invoices, letters and emails. This tool offers two ways to make one, and both end as a transparent image you can drop onto any document.
Draw it
- Choose Drawing and sign in the box with a mouse, a finger or a stylus. On a phone, hold the device in landscape for more room.
- Strokes are smoothed into curves as you draw, and the pen gets slightly thinner when you move fast and thicker when you slow down, which makes the line look natural.
- Use Undo to remove the last stroke or Clear to start again.
- Change the pen thickness and ink colour. Black, dark blue and teal look best on most documents.
Type it
Choose Typing, enter your name and pick a handwriting style. Ten fonts from Google Fonts are included, from formal scripts such as Great Vibes and Allura to casual hands like Caveat. Adjust the size until it fits comfortably.
Export
- PNG is rendered at three times the screen size and cropped tightly around the ink, so it stays crisp when you scale it down into a document.
- SVG keeps the signature as vector shapes. Drawn signatures export as smooth paths. Typed signatures embed the font so they look the same everywhere.
- Leave the background transparent to place the signature on top of anything, or choose a solid colour.
Using your signature
- Insert the PNG into Word, Google Docs or a PDF editor and use the image tools to place it on the line.
- Keep it fairly small and close to the signature line, with a little white space around it.
- Save the file somewhere safe. Anyone who has the image can paste it into a document, so do not share it publicly.
Privacy
Drawing and export happen entirely in your browser.
Frequently asked questions
Is a drawn or typed signature legally valid?
In many countries an electronic signature counts when the signer intends to sign and the document is kept properly, but rules vary by document type and country. This tool makes the image only. For contracts that matter, check local law or use a dedicated e-signature service.
Why is the PNG background transparent?
So you can place it on any document or colour without a white box around it. Switch on the solid background option if you want a filled image instead.
What is the difference between PNG and SVG?
PNG is a picture made of pixels and is ideal for pasting into documents and images. SVG is made of shapes, stays sharp at any size and can be recoloured in code. Drawn signatures become true vector paths.
Why did my typed SVG say the font was not embedded?
The font file is fetched from Google Fonts when you export. If you are offline or the request is blocked, the SVG falls back to plain text that needs the font installed. The PNG is not affected.
Is my signature stored or uploaded?
No. It is drawn and exported inside your browser. The only network request is for the handwriting fonts from Google Fonts.
