How to use the resume and cv builder
Write it, preview it, download it
Fill in your details on the left and watch the preview on the right update as you type. When it looks right, press Download PDF. There is nothing to sign up for and the file is made on your own device.
Step by step
- Pick a template. Classic is a centred, traditional layout that suits most industries. Modern adds a coloured header band for design and tech roles. Compact uses smaller type and tighter spacing to fit more on one page.
- Choose an accent colour. Pick a dark, readable colour. It is used for headings, rules and the header band.
- Enter your details. Name, headline, email, phone, location and one link such as a portfolio or LinkedIn page.
- Complete the sections. Experience, Education and Projects take entries with a title, an organisation, dates and bullet points, one per line. Summary and Skills are plain text.
- Reorder. Put the strongest section first. Early-career candidates often lead with Education or Projects, while experienced candidates lead with Experience.
Writing tips that get interviews
- Start each bullet with a verb and end with a result: cut report time from two days to two hours.
- Use numbers wherever you honestly can: team size, revenue, users, percentages.
- Keep the summary to two or three sentences that match the job you want.
- Tailor your skills list to each posting by using its words, then save a separate PDF for each application.
- Leave out photos, ages and references unless your country expects them.
About your draft
Your work is saved automatically in this browser. If you share a computer, use Reset when you finish to replace it with the sample. The tool is a good starting point for a one-page resume, and if you want a polished portfolio site to go with it, our design team can help.
Frequently asked questions
Is my resume uploaded anywhere?
No. Everything runs in your browser. Your draft is saved in your own browser storage so it is there when you come back, and the PDF is created on your device.
Can I reorder or hide sections?
Yes. Use the arrows on any section to move it, the eye button to hide it from the preview and PDF without deleting it, and the add menu to insert Experience, Education, Projects, Skills, Summary or a custom section.
Why do some characters show as question marks in the PDF?
The PDF uses the standard built-in fonts, which cover Latin letters and common punctuation. Characters outside that range, such as Chinese, Arabic or emoji, are replaced with a question mark.
Will my resume pass applicant tracking systems?
The PDF contains real text, not an image, in a single column with standard headings, which most tracking systems read well. Avoid putting key details in the header only, and use the exact job title and skills words from the posting.
How long should it be?
One page for under ten years of experience, two at most beyond that. Long entries wrap onto a second page automatically, but trimming older roles to one line each usually reads better.
What if I clear my browser data?
Your draft is removed with it. Download the PDF whenever you finish a version, and keep that file as your backup.
