How to use the real estate agency website template

Start with the listings file

Open the preview above and click through the five pages. The properties page is the heart of the template: a grid of homes with search, buy or rent, type, bedroom and sort controls. All of it is driven by a single file, assets/listings.js. Each property is a small object with a title, address, price, bedrooms, bathrooms, size, description and feature list. Add or remove objects and the grid, the filters and the property detail page follow.

Edit in the right order

  1. Brand. Search for "Maplewood Estates" and replace it in the header, footer, page titles and meta descriptions. Update the phone number, address and email in the footer and on the contact page.
  2. Colours and fonts. The navy and brass palette lives in the :root block at the top of assets/style.css. Change four or five variables and the whole site follows.
  3. Properties. Edit listings.js, then update the three featured cards on the home page by hand so the home page matches.
  4. Images. The illustrations are inline-friendly SVG files in images/. Swap them for real photography: keep each file name, or change the img path in listings.js.
  5. Agents. Duplicate an agent card on agents.html for each team member and add real headshots.

How the detail page works

property.html reads the id from the address bar, looks the home up in listings.js and renders the page. Every listing card links to property.html?id=N. If an id is missing, the visitor sees a polite not-found message with a link back to the grid.

Capturing leads

The contact form and the viewing-request form on each property use a mailto action so they work with no server. For production, create a free Formspree form or point the action at your CRM, then remove the method and enctype attributes. Add a clear privacy line near the form and never ask for more than you need.

Local search and speed

Write a unique title and description for every page that includes the town name. The pages are light (no framework, no web fonts), which helps mobile search ranking. If you publish many individual homes, generate one static page per property instead of the single detail template, so each can be indexed on its own.

Going live

Upload the folder to any static host, point your domain at it and add your Google Business Profile. When you outgrow a static site, DEV3 can build a full property portal with accounts, saved searches and alerts around this design.

Frequently asked questions

How do I add my own properties?

Open assets/listings.js and add an object for each home with a title, address, price, bedrooms and image path. The listings grid, filters and detail page read that file, so they update on their own. The three featured cards on the home page are plain HTML, edit them to match.

Do the filters need a server?

No. Filtering and sorting run in the visitor browser against the list in listings.js. That is fine for a few hundred homes. For thousands of listings, load them from an API or your CRM and keep the same markup.

Can I connect it to a property feed?

Yes. Generate listings.js from your feed during a build step, or fetch JSON at load time and assign it to window.LISTINGS before listings-page.js runs.

What about the photos?

The template ships with illustrated SVG homes so there are no licensing questions. Replace them with your own photography at about 1200 pixels wide in WebP or JPEG.

Is the enquiry form working?

It opens an email draft by default. Point the form action at Formspree, your CRM or your own endpoint for real lead capture.
