How to use the meme and quote image maker
Two quick image makers in one
This page makes the two most common text-on-image graphics: the classic meme and the shareable quote card.
Make a meme
- Choose a picture. Any photo or screenshot works. Without one you get a plain coloured square.
- Type the top text and bottom text. Meme fonts are upper-cased automatically for the familiar look.
- Pick a font. Anton and Bebas Neue are close to the traditional heavy meme lettering, Bangers is comic-like and Patrick Hand is friendly.
- Adjust text size, text colour and outline colour. White text with a black outline stays readable on almost any background.
- Download the PNG.
Make a quote card
- Switch to Quote card.
- Enter the quote and the author.
- Pick a font. Serif choices such as Playfair Display and Lora feel literary and calm, while Montserrat and Poppins look modern.
- Choose a colour theme and a size: square for feeds, portrait for more screen space, 1080 x 1920 for stories, or 1200 x 675 for wide posts.
- Optionally use a photo as the background. A dark layer is added so the text stays readable.
Writing tips
- Keep meme text short. Two or three words per line is ideal.
- For quote cards, shorten long quotes to one or two sentences and always credit the author.
- Contrast matters more than style. If the preview is hard to read, change the theme or add the photo darkening.
- Make sure you have the right to use any photo you upload, and avoid using other people's images or words in ways that mislead.
Fonts and privacy
The fonts come from Google Fonts and are free for commercial use. Your pictures and text stay in your browser.
Frequently asked questions
Do the memes have a watermark?
No. The image you download contains only your picture and your text. There is no logo, no watermark and no sign-up.
Which fonts are included?
Meme fonts include Anton, Bebas Neue, Bangers, Oswald and Patrick Hand. Quote fonts include Playfair Display, Lora, Merriweather, Montserrat, Poppins and Caveat. All are free Google Fonts under the Open Font Licence, usable commercially.
What size is the meme?
It keeps the shape of your picture, scaled down to at most 1400 pixels on the longest side. Quote cards come in square, portrait, story and wide sizes.
Why is long text getting smaller?
The text shrinks automatically so it fits in the available space. For bigger lettering, shorten the wording or use the text size slider.
Is my picture uploaded?
No. It is drawn onto a canvas in your browser. Only the font files are fetched from Google Fonts.
