How to use the website speed and seo audit checker
Run a quick technical check on any page
Enter a full page address and press Run check. In a few seconds you get an overall score from 0 to 100, three sub-scores (speed, SEO and security) and a list of checks. Each one shows what we found and, if it needs attention, a short fix you can hand to a developer.
What is checked
- Speed and delivery: time to the first response, size of the HTML, whether it is compressed with gzip or Brotli, how many redirects happen before the final page, caching headers, scripts that block rendering in the head, and images without width and height.
- On-page SEO: the HTTP status, title length, meta description length, a single H1, the canonical URL, noindex directives in the page or the headers, Open Graph and Twitter card tags, image alt text, the language attribute and the mobile viewport.
- Crawling: whether robots.txt exists and whether it blocks everything, and whether a sitemap is published.
- Security headers: HTTPS, Strict-Transport-Security, X-Content-Type-Options, clickjacking protection, Content-Security-Policy, Referrer-Policy and mixed content.
How to read the results
- Start with anything marked Failed. These are the changes most likely to affect rankings or safety.
- Work through Needs work items next. Many are one-line server or template edits.
- Treat Notes as optional ideas.
- Re-run after your changes. Results for the same address are kept for ten minutes, so wait a little if you see an older result.
Good habits
- Check your home page first, then a typical product, article or landing page. Templates usually share the same problems.
- Compare your score with a competitor's page to see which basics they cover that you do not.
- Fix titles and descriptions per page. A template default repeated across the whole site is the most common finding.
- Pair this with a link check to catch dead links, which an audit of one page cannot see.
Safety and limits
The checker only visits public web addresses, never private networks, and stops after eight seconds or two megabytes. If you want a deeper audit with ongoing monitoring, our team can run one for you.
Frequently asked questions
What does the checker actually fetch?
One request for the page you enter (following up to five redirects), plus your robots.txt and sitemap.xml. It reads the HTML and the response headers. It does not load images, scripts or stylesheets, so it is a health check of your markup and server rather than a full page-load test.
Why is my speed score good but my site feels slow?
The speed checks measure the first response and the size of the HTML. Heavy images, third-party scripts and large JavaScript bundles load after that and are not measured here. Use a browser performance panel for those.
Can I test a page on localhost or behind a login?
No. For safety the checker only visits public internet addresses. Private networks, localhost, cloud metadata addresses and pages that need a login or cookies are refused or will show their login page.
How often can I run it?
Up to 10 new checks per hour from one connection. Repeating the same URL within 10 minutes shows the saved result and does not count against that limit.
Is my result stored or shared?
The result is cached for 10 minutes so repeat checks are fast, then discarded. We do not publish it or tie it to an account.
Why does a check say "Needs work" for something I do not need?
The checks follow common good practice, for example a canonical tag or a Referrer-Policy header. If you have a reason to skip one, you can ignore it. Items marked as notes do not affect the score.
