How to use the pdf merge, split and compress

Four PDF jobs in one place

Most PDF chores are small: stick two files together, pull out the pages you need, make a scan small enough to email, or turn a sideways page upright. This tool does all four without an account, a watermark or an upload.

Merge

  1. Choose Merge, then drop two or more PDFs onto the box.
  2. Put them in order by dragging the rows or using the arrows.
  3. Press Merge and the combined file downloads as merged.pdf.

Pages keep their original size, so you can mix A4 and Letter files without distortion.

Split

Pick Split and choose a file. You can split by ranges or into single pages. In ranges mode every comma-separated part becomes its own PDF, so 1-3, 5, 8- produces three files: pages 1 to 3, page 5, and page 8 to the end. With two or more results you get a zip; with one result you get the PDF directly.

Compress

Compression suits scans, photo-heavy brochures and exported slides. Choose a preset or set image quality and resolution yourself. Lower quality and resolution mean smaller files. Because pages are turned into images, check the result before sending it, and keep the original if you need searchable text.

  • Light keeps text sharp for reading on screen.
  • Balanced suits email attachments.
  • Smallest is for upload forms with strict size limits.

Rotate, delete and reorder

Choose Rotate and reorder to see a thumbnail of every page. Rotate a page left or right, delete pages you do not want, and move pages earlier or later. Download when the thumbnails look right.

Privacy

Everything runs in your browser. We never receive your documents, which makes this a safe choice for contracts, payslips and identity documents. Close the tab and every trace of the file is gone.

Tips

  • Split first, then compress only the part you need to send.
  • If a merge fails, the file is probably encrypted or damaged; re-save it with Print to PDF.
  • For very large files, work on one tool at a time and keep other tabs closed.

Frequently asked questions

Are my PDFs uploaded anywhere?

No. Every operation runs inside this browser tab using JavaScript libraries (pdf-lib and pdf.js). Nothing is sent to a server, so confidential contracts, invoices and ID scans stay on your device. You can switch off your network after the page loads and the tool still works.

How does compression work, and what is the catch?

Each page is drawn to an image at the resolution and JPEG quality you pick, and the images are rebuilt into a new PDF. That shrinks scans and photo-heavy files dramatically. The catch is that text in the result is no longer selectable or searchable, so use it for files you only need to read or print.

Why did compression make my file bigger?

PDFs that are mostly text and vector graphics are already tiny, and a page image can be larger than the text it replaces. The tool tells you when this happens. Keep your original or try the smallest preset.

Can I merge password-protected PDFs?

No. Encrypted files are refused with a clear message. Remove the password in the app that created the file, or print it to a new PDF, then try again.

Is there a file size or page limit?

There is no limit set by us. The practical limit is your device memory: a few hundred megabytes works on a laptop, while very large files may be slow on a phone. Compression is the heaviest step.

Do links and bookmarks survive?

Merging, splitting and reordering keep page content, form fields on those pages and annotations that belong to a page. Document-wide bookmarks and outlines are not carried over, and compression removes links and form fields.
