Create link

The link is hidden from search engines. Anyone with the link (and the password, if set) can read it until it expires. Do not paste secrets you cannot afford to leak.

How to use the online notepad and paste sharing

Share text without an account

Sometimes you only need to send a stack trace, a config snippet or a note to a colleague. Chat apps mangle formatting and email feels heavy. A paste link keeps the text intact, highlights code and expires on its own.

Create a paste

  1. Paste the text. The tool guesses the language (JSON, SQL, Python, HTML and more) and you can change it.
  2. Pick the expiry. Use one hour for a quick question, one day for a handover and seven or thirty days for reference material.
  3. Optional protection. Add a password to keep casual readers out, or choose burn after reading so the text disappears after one view.
  4. Create the link and copy it. A delete button appears straight after creation in case you shared the wrong thing.

Reading a paste

The page shows line numbers and colours for comments, strings, numbers and keywords. Copy the text or download it as a file. The highlighter is intentionally small and not a full parser, so unusual syntax may be coloured imperfectly, but the text is never changed.

Safe habits

  • Never paste passwords, API keys, tokens or customer data. Rotate any secret that was pasted by accident.
  • Use burn after reading for one-time sharing, and send the password through a different channel than the link.
  • Open your own burn link only when you mean to read it.

Limits and moderation

Pastes are capped at 200 KB, rate limited per visitor and hidden from search engines. Each page has a report link, and DEV3 can disable pages that break the rules. Expired pastes are removed automatically.

Frequently asked questions

When is my paste deleted?

At the expiry you choose: 1 hour, 1 day, 7 days or 30 days. A paste set to burn after reading is deleted the first time someone successfully opens it. You can also delete it yourself right after creating it.

How does burn after reading work?

The link first shows a button instead of the text, so link previews and chat apps do not trigger it. When a person presses it, the text is shown once and deleted at the same moment.

Is the password secure?

The password is stored only as a salted scrypt hash and checked on the server, with limits on guesses. It protects the link from casual readers. The text itself is stored on the server, so avoid pasting passwords, keys or personal data.

Will search engines find my paste?

No. Paste pages are marked noindex and nocache and the link is long and random. Anyone who has the link can read the paste, so share it only with people you trust.

What is the size limit?

Two hundred kilobytes of text per paste, which is plenty for code, logs and notes. Rate limits stop automated spam.

What if someone pastes something harmful?

Every paste has a Report abuse link. Reported and rule-breaking pastes can be disabled or removed by DEV3, and expired pastes are cleaned up every hour.
