How to use the case converter

Pick the format that matches where the text will live

Different places expect different capitalisation, and mixing them up causes bugs or looks sloppy. Paste your text above and every format is generated at once, so you can copy the one you need.

Writing formats

  • Title Case suits headlines, book titles and page titles. Small words such as of, the and and stay lowercase in the middle of the title, while the first and last word are always capitalised.
  • Sentence case capitalises only the first word of each sentence. It is the friendliest style for UI labels, email subject lines and most modern headings.
  • UPPER CASE and lower case are useful for quick clean-ups, such as normalising a pasted list before you compare it.

Code and data formats

  • camelCase and PascalCase are the usual choices for variables, functions, classes and React components in JavaScript, Java and C#.
  • snake_case is standard in Python, Ruby and most SQL column names. CONSTANT_CASE is used for environment variables and constants.
  • kebab-case is used in CSS class names, HTML attributes and file names.
  • dot.case shows up in configuration keys and event names.

URL slugs

A good slug is short, lowercase, and uses hyphens between words. Paste a headline and use the URL slug result: accents are removed, punctuation is dropped and repeated spaces collapse into a single hyphen. Search engines read hyphens as word separators, so free-online-tools is better than free_online_tools.

Tips

  1. Convert from any format to any other. The tool first splits your text into words (it understands existing camelCase and snake_case), so userAccountId becomes user_account_id in one step.
  2. For renaming many identifiers, paste one per line: each line keeps its own line break in the sentence and title results.
  3. Check the result before you publish. Title case rules differ between style guides, so adjust brand names by hand if needed.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between camelCase and PascalCase?

Both join words without separators and capitalise each new word. camelCase starts with a lowercase letter (userName) and is common for variables; PascalCase starts with a capital (UserName) and is common for classes and components.

Which small words stay lowercase in Title Case?

Short articles, conjunctions and prepositions such as a, an, the, and, but, for, in, of, on, or, to stay lowercase unless they are the first or last word. Words you typed in ALL CAPS, like NASA or API, are kept as they are.

Does it handle accents and symbols in slugs?

Yes. For slug, kebab, snake and similar formats, accents are folded to plain letters (café becomes cafe) and every run of symbols or spaces becomes one separator.

Is my text sent anywhere?

No. The conversion runs in your browser, so you can safely paste drafts, code or private notes.
